Default 900SS lean??

Just got a sweet 99CR adjed valves and belts all seems well, idles nicely, pulls hard . . .

Except, at light throttle opennings it constantly "spits" back through the airbox.

If I give it more throttle it pulls fine. It has Remus slips on it and I'm wondering if these have exaserbated a lean fuel problem at light throttle settings??

Any suggestions are appreciated.

yep, usual answer is .. Don't use light throttles.. they all do it.. use a different gear.

A 99 cr?? they're pretty rare.. the injected bikes started in late 98 and there wasn't a CR in that range.

Photos or it never happened...

My 99 900SS had same problem since I bought it in 2008. I did several things to try to richen it up but it did not fix problem. I finally brought it to Seacoast Sport Cycle and had a Power Comander installed and had it tuned on the dyno. I could not be happier! bike can now be ridden traffic without stumbling.

My older 95 SS/CR got a makeover when new with D&D's plus a carb kit with different piston lift springs, needles and jets. Ran like a clock. When one of the pipes broke a flange, I put the stock pipes back on temporarily, and Yuuck. Spit, popped, and you could smell the exhaust a mile away. When I got the new D&D back, put them on, and back to smooth as ever. So the pipes may indeed be open enuf for the bike to run quite lean. If it's injected, I'm lost.
Your mileage may vary
